A NORTH Korean soldier has defected from Kim
Jong-uns hermit kingdom after being shot by his own army. He fled to South Korea through the the demilitarised
zone today, the Joint Chiefs of Staff said. He suffered a gunshot from North Korean forces
and is recovering in hospital after arriving in South Korea, the military said. A military official confirmed the incident
took place.
They said: In the afternoon today, a North
Korean soldier defected from a guard post on the North Korean side of the Joint Security
Area toward our side and our military took him. The JSA is a small strip of land on the border
between the Koreas. Troops from both sides stand face-to-face. "The military has raised its alertness against
the North Korean military's possible provocations and is maintaining its full readiness posture,"
the official continued.
This comes as war tensions continue to rise
between North Korea and its enemies in the south and the US. War games are being carried out in the Korean
Peninsula. Three supercarriers USS Ronald Reagan, USS
Theodore Roosevelt and USS Nimitz are currently in Korean waters. North Korea has warned the US and its allies
are digging their own graves by carrying out the drills warning of nuclear war
at any moment.
US President Donald Trump is still in Asia
for his tour as US Navy forces carry out the drill. The world waits to see if Kim will launch
another weapons test having not fired a missile since September 15. North Korea have been building up to the dreaded
Juche Bird live nuclear missile fired into the Pacific. Kim believes becoming a nuclear power will
allow him to remain in power in Pyongyang and stave off the threat of invasion..
