North Korean athletes face FIRING SQUAD on Winter Olympics return - DAILY NEWS

North Korean athletes face FIRING SQUAD on
Winter Olympics return NORTH Korean athletes face being gunned down
by a firing squad for stepping out of line at the Winter Olympics, an expert has warned. Bombastic leader Kim Jong-un has allowed 22
athletes to cross the border to arch rival South Korea for the Pyeongchang Games on Thursday. They will even march with athletes from the
South under a "unified" Korea flag, marking a significant thaw in relations between the
two countries. It follows a string of ICBM tests by the North
that have riled world rival leaders, especially US President Donald Trump.

But lurking behind Kim's veil of animosity
lies a horror threat to have the athletes killed. Expert in Asian security, Chris Ogden, previously
told Daily Star Online athletes are likely to be warned that colluding with the South
will be met with the death penalty. He said: "If they were spying, that would
be treason, that would be the death penalty. "If they were found guilty of, say, spying
colluding with people from the other side, that is treason and death." Now he has revealed the most likely method,
and it is absolutely horrifying.

Mr Ogden, who works at the University of St
Andrews, told Daily Star Online a "firing squad" would be the most likely form of capital
punishment imposed. A firing squad consists of a group of North
Korean soldiers who use high-powered weapons to shoot the person at close-range. It has long been reported that executions
in this form are held in public, in front of large crowds of horrified onlookers. Colluding with the South may occur, he adds,
if there is an audacious attempt to gain information.

But he believes the likelihood of this is
slim, because the athletes will be aware of the consequences. He previously told us: "It could be in the
interest of either side, to try and gain better information on the other side. "But I think within the context of the Olympics
it is quite limited." Daily Star Online also revealed that Kim is
likely to send spies to the Olympic Games to ensure athletes are not stepping out of
line..
