Deadly Kremlin submarines CHASE UK warship as Putin unleashes Black Hole stealth hunters

Deadly Kremlin submarines CHASE UK warship
as Putin unleashes Black Hole stealth hunters LETHAL Russian submarines hunted a Royal Navy submarine this week as tensions between Moscow
and the West reach boiling point, its claimed. Two Kremlin subs  dubbed the Black Hole
because of their stealth abilities  stalked the British submarine as it came within range
of the Syrian coast before Saturdays bombing raid. The stealth Kilo-class Russian submarines
are powered by diesel generators, and an electric drive which allows them to operate so quickly. Their powerful arsenal includes torpedoes,
cruise and anti-ship missiles.

Iain Ballantyne, author of The Deadly Trade,
a book on submarine warfare, said the two Kilos would have been a considerable threat. In comparison, the 1.2Billion British submarines
have limited firepower and would have only been carrying around 20 Tomahawk missiles. This cat-and-mouse battle happened before
Theresa May announced air strikes on Syria in response to Assads alleged chemical
weapons attack, the Times reported. Two Russian frigates and an anti-submarine
aircraft were also involved in the effort to find the British vessel.

But Brit underwater forces were helped by
the US Navy which flew patrol aircraft to track Russian boats. More than 100 missiles were fired from ships
and manned aircraft as the allies targeted three of the Assad regimes chemical weapons
making facilities yesterday morning. However the British sub did not take part
in the strikes and instead four RAF jets which took from the Akroriti base in Cyprus launched
the missiles. The target was a former base around 15 miles
west of Homs in Syria where Assad is said to be stockpiling materials to make chemical
weapons.

According to the Times, Russian and British
submarines have been stalking each other repeatedly in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean in
recent years. However this tense clash in the Med marked
the first underwater duel amid bitten tensions over the Salisbury spy poisoning and the attack
in Syria. A Royal Navy document revealed plans to push
back the Astute class sub or even cancel it.   If the MoD decides to scrap the new vessels
it mens only six, instead of eight, of the 1.6Bn hunter-killers would be able
to protect the UK from foreign threats, including Russia..
